Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The standout feature of Merchy's Cafe is undoubtedly its staff. Reviews frequently praise their friendliness and attentiveness, making everyone feel right at home. Diners rave about the delicious food, especially the hearty breakfasts, including their famous sausages and bacon sandwiches. Many visitors highlight the vibrant coffee and extensive tea selection, perfectly brewed for a refreshing start to the day. The dog-friendly policy also earns appreciative nods—pooches get pampered with dog treats, making it a relaxed spot for pet owners. Lastly, the casual vibe combined with impeccable cleanliness creates an inviting space to enjoy a meal.

Most Disliked

Despite its many strengths, Merchy's Cafe does face a few criticisms. Some patrons find it gets quite busy, especially on Fridays at 9 AM when reservations might be tricky. The lunch rush often leads to a bustling atmosphere, which might not suit everyone looking for a quieter dining experience. A few visitors note the limited dinner options, as most patrons frequent the cafe during breakfast or lunchtime hours. There have also been mentions of occasional wait times during peak hours, though this seems a minor issue given the overall quality and flavor of the food. Additionally, while the menu is extensive, some diners have expressed a desire for more innovative specials or healthier options to complement traditional dishes.

Searching on line for a sandwich lunch, in the Martock area, Merchy’s was a perfect fit for our requirement. We were also pleased that they are dog friendly, as was our dog who received a sausage. My mistake was thinking that a sandwich was a light option. I ordered a cheese and onion toastie. It was the best toastie that I have ever had eaten. Added to that , there was salad and crisps. All of it, delicious. My husband ordered the sausage sandwich. He usually tries to persuade me to try some of his but no offer was forthcoming. He wanted it all. The service was friendly. The place was spotless. As I tried to slip a quarter of my sandwich, wrapped in a napkin, the owner came over with a take away box for me. 10/10.

Came here with some friends who had wanted to bring me and the food was really good. I had a simple bacon sandwich and hot chocolate but it was really good and the bread was definitely from a local bakery with how thick the slices were. One of my friends had a massive burger that was bigger than his head and it also looked delicious! Highly recommend.

Merchy's is a lovely little café with delightful staff and good food. 😊 They are very accommodating and have been fabulous whenever I've taken my son, who cannot have dairy. I would definitely recommend going here. Their cakes are also delicious and if you're too full, you should definitely take one to go.

Had a ‘Fill ‘em Up’ breakfast this morning, not only did it fill me right up as advertised but the excellent quality of food left me feeling very satisfied. All fresh ingredients and from what I can assume all locally sourced, down to the freshly baked bread. Can’t say a bad word about this place, great food, friendly staff!
